A Community Service: Sharing Scholarships With Others

Community service is an easy way to increase scholarship eligibility. Helping others find them is beneficial too! Check out these awards and share the wealth.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question to ask is, what are you doing for others?”

— Martin Luther King Jr.

Many students are interested in participating in community service projects. They recognize that service is an important act to do for others but also a critical component for college admission and scholarship opportunities. With the demands of academic, athletic, family, and job responsibilities on your calendar—not to mention the ongoing pandemic—it can be difficult to find time to engage in community service in ways that are very involved. But here’s a small way you can participate in community service, plus some resources to help get you started.

A low-commitment community service project

Helping others in your community doesn’t have to require a significant amount of time you don’t have. In fact, you could potentially have a tremendous impact with only five minutes of your time. It can also be done while you’re actively pursuing scholarships for yourself.

Since every scholarship has its own criteria, you’ll absolutely stumble upon scholarships that you aren’t eligible for. But what if you took a few minutes to post about that scholarship to your social media platforms? Or what if you messaged it directly to others? Sharing valuable information with your peers is an act of community service. Consider the following:

  • Posting to pages that may serve students who fit the criteria
  • Tagging local groups, pages, and organizations that fit the criteria
  • Tagging your local school or parent associations who can forward to families who may be struggling with the scholarship search

CollegeXpress has helped me find so many scholarships that fit me. They match me to colleges I have specific interest in to make searching for colleges way easier and more efficient. CollegeXpress refers me to schools that have my major of interest and backup schools if I want to change my mind. CollegeXpress also gives out their own scholarships, so you have even more of a chance at gaining multiple scholarships. This website has helped me de-stress from the pressure of not being able to afford college, [of finding] what schools are right for me, and how to find easy access to scholarships that most people never knew existed.

High School Class of 2023

Being a sophomore in high school, I never really worried about college. I thought it wasn't important to worry about until senior year. Through this program opportunity I came across, I realized how important it is to start looking at colleges early and start planning ahead. CollegeXpress has opened my eyes to what colleges require, what colleges are near me, and what they offer. The daily emails I get from CollegeXpress really help me look at the different options I have and what colleges I fit into. Without this website, I would not be taking the time out of my day to worry about what my future will be nor what opportunities I have. I could not be more grateful for such an amazing and useful website. It's thanks to CollegeXpress that not only me but my family now know how much potential I have in to getting into these colleges/universities that we thought were out of my reach.

It's an honor for me to be writing to share a little about my experience with CollegeXpress. I've been using CollegeXpress for about a year now, and the reason why I chose it is because it provides astonishing scholarships for every student around the globe. Besides that, this organization dispenses all the information necessary to help students get to college. CollegeXpress has helped me have an easier experience with applying to colleges and choosing the best fit for myself.
